I don't know if it's possible to escape the need for attention--in fact, I don't know if it's possible to escape the need for exclusive attention. I certainly haven't found a way out of it. That need is part of the reason Facebook is so big.
"I crave attention." It's a theme of the Facebook movie, The Social Network. It's the theme of this fun song. It's the theme of this passage, where God says he's a husband who showers his beautiful wife with eternal love.

True...we all crave attention. We all want our voice to be heard, our feelings validated or assurance that our lives are worth it.
Yup. We long to hear "You matter: you matter a lot."
