Thanks to my dad the pastor, I've been to many weddings. This is my favorite marriage quote of his: "Twelve words can save your marriage: "'I was wrong. I am sorry. Please forgive me. I love you.'" If you want to narrow it down even further, I'd go with the first three words. Since marriage is the highest form of friendship, this is great advice for friends (and roommates), too.
